Marlin Model 1893 Lever Action Rifle, #184314, .30-30 WCF cal., blued 26'' octagonal barrel, with dovetailed bead-blade front and sliding adjustable buckhorn rear sights, marked with maker's name, address and three 1887-93 patent dates on top flat, ''Special Smokeless Steel'' on left angled flat, and ''30-30'' at breech; case hardened receiver (marked ''Marlin Safety'' on top, and with an adjustable peep tang sight), loop operating lever, hammer and buttplate; varnished walnut forend with steel nose cap and matching buttstock with steel crescent rifle buttplate. Mfg'd post-1898. Condition is very good+. Barrel retains approx. 93% original blue, mag tube with traces of blue; receiver, hammer and lever with traces of case colors but mostly silvered out. Stocks are sound and smooth with normal age and handling marks, 50% varnish confined mostly to buttstock, and two ''steps'' cut into top of comb to clear the tang sight when folded. Action is strong and smooth; bore is brilliant with crisp rifling. Est.: $500-$750. (C&R)
