Antique Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle, #46215, .38-56 WCF cal., blued 26'' octagonal barrel, with dovetailed block-blade front and adjustable buckhorn rear sights marked with the maker's name and address in two lines ahead of rear sight, and ''38-56 W.C.F.'' at breech; blued full-length tubular magazine; case hardened receiver (marked ''Model 1886'' on top tang, with two-line 1884-85 patent dates and ''46215'' on lower tang), loop operating lever, hammer, forend cap and crescent buttplate; oil-stained walnut forend and buttstock. Mfg'd 1890. Condition is very good. Barrel retains approx. 80% thinning original blue, the mag tube gray-brown, receiver case hardening is mostly silvered out, lever and buttplate gunmetal gray. Stocks are smooth, solid and with minor use marks. Action is smooth and sure; bore is brilliant with sharp rifling. A Browning brothers design, the Model 1886 was the first Winchester capable of handling ''big game'' calibers and a favorite of Theodore Roosevelt. Est.: $1,500-$2,250. (Antique)
