Winchester Model 95 Takedown Lever Action Sporting Rifle, #422623, .35 WCF cal., blued 24'' tapered round barrel with raised blade and adjustable buckhorn rear sights, is marked ''Nickel Steel Barrel/Especially for Smokeless Powder'' and ''35 W.C.F.'' on left side ahead of breech; blued takedown receiver is marked with the maker's name, address and six 1895-1907 patent dates on left side, and ''Model 95/Winchester'' and trademark on top tang; blued box magazine, loop operating lever, hammer and trigger; varnished walnut forend with Schnabel tip having a horn (or ebony) inlay, and matching buttstock with blued crescent rifle buttplate (both with sling studs, but without rings). Mfg'd ca. 1928. Condition is fine+. Barrel retains approx. 98% deep glossy blue; receiver, lever and other blued parts with approx. 75% original blue (having some roughness on either side of receiver, and 25% blue on buttplate). Stocks are sound and smooth retaining approx. 70% varnish, mostly on buttstock, and normal handling/use marks. Action is strong and smooth; bore is brilliant with sharply defined rifling.
