Lot 86 Colt Bisley Single Action Army Revolver
Colt Bisley Single Action Army Revolver, #194124, .38 Spec. CF cal., 7.5'' round barrel marked with the Colt name and address in one line on top, and ''Colt Single Action Army .38 Special'' on left side; solid frame with the 1871-72-75 patent dates in two lines and a ''Rampant Colt'' circular logo on left side; loading gate batch-marked ''198''; fluted 6-shot round cylinder has a tiny star on front face; steel gripstraps; checkered two-piece hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in a raised oval panel at top. Mfg'd 1900, originally in blued finish with case hardened frame and hammer. Condition is good as reconfigured: the later ''.38 Special'' barrel without Bisley markings, the cylinder with the star marking (dates from post-1935), the right-rear triggerguard bow with a star marking (may indicate a refinish or rebuild by the factory); the blued (rather than case hardened) frame. Metal surfaces retain 85% dullish military-type blue (thinning at muzzle and gripstraps, nicks to front sight blade, scrape to top of barrel); darkening case colors to hammer. Grips with sharp checkering and relief details, fit well and have a tiny chip at right toe. Markings are sharp; action is smooth and crisp; bore is bright with defined rifling. Est.: $1,000-$1,500.
