Antique Colt Model 1878 Frontier Double Action Revolver, #11879, .44-40 CF cal., 5.5'' barrel with right-side ejector rod marked on top ''Colt's Pt. F.A. Mfg. Co. Hartford, CT U.S.A.'' in one line; 6-shot long-fluted round cylinder marked ''P'' and ''879'' on rear face between bores; solid frame with integral ''bird's head'' gripstraps and a lanyard loop at butt; right-side hinged loading gate correctly batch-numbered ''472''; loop triggerguard marked ''44 CF'' on left bow; two-piece checkered black hard rubber grips have the ''Rampant Colt'' logo within an oval panel at top. Mfg'd pre-1898. Condition is good, retaining all of a re-plated nickel finish that is smooth and bright; barrel address is soft, other markings sharp. Grips show wear but are smooth and undamaged. Action is smooth and crisp; bore is clean with defined rifling. Est.: $450-$650. (Antique)
