Lot 938 Civil War Colt 1849 Single Action Perc. Revolver
Civil War Colt Model 1849 Single Action Percussion Pocket Revolver, #219835, .31 cal., 4'' octagonal barrel with the one-line ''Address Col. Saml Colt New-York US America'' marking, 6-shot round cylinder with the familiar ''Stagecoach Hold-Up'' rolled scene, brass grip straps, one-piece varnished walnut grips. Originally blued and case hardened finishes. Mfg'd 1862 during the early Civil War. All serial numbers match except the wedge, which is original Colt part #14379. Condition is very good retaining no original finish to metal, which may have been chemically cleaned over light pitting in places; cylinder scene is perhaps 35% visible; most other markings are clear; screw slots are nice. Grips have a chip out at left bottom but are otherwise smooth and retain some original varnish. Action is crisp; bore is clean with distinct rifling. Est.: $450-$750. (Antique)
