Antique American Muzzleloading Halfstock Percussion Sporting or Plains Rifle, NVSN, approx. .48 cal., 33'' medium-weight octagonal barrel with a dovetailed tiny-blade front and dovetailed open rear sights and long rear tang; flat iron lockplate is marked ahead of hammer ''Henry Parker/Warranted'' in two lines (likely imported from England); iron furniture including hammer, trigger, scrolled finger-rest triggerguard, plain right-side patchbox, crescent buttplate and two under-barrel ramrod ferrules; scrolled German silver sideplate and two barrel wedge escutcheons; pewter nosecap; varnished walnut halfstock; hardwood ramrod. Condition is fair to good showing no original finish, an overall gunmetal grey color to barrel and a dark brown age patina to iron parts with scattered moderate pitting. Stock with a carved cheekpiece on left side, longitudinal cracks emanating from buttplate on both sides, is broken through on both sides at wrist and shows remnants of dark varnish.
