Modern Heavy Barrel Halfstock Percussion Sporting Rifle, NVSN, .40 cal., 28-1/2'' blued octagonal barrel with dovetailed German silver blade front and adjustable open rear sights is marked only ''40-63'' on top at breech; plain flush-mounted lockplate is marked ''Remington Arms Co.''; plain hammer and trigger; simple brass loop triggerguard; checkered hard rubber buttplate is marked ''Stevens''; varnished walnut pistol-grip stock with a single under-barrel steel ramrod ferrule and a plain hardwood ramrod. Condition is fine, the steel parts retaining 90% original blue-black finish, the brass triggerguard with a light patina. Stock with minor handling/use marks and most original varnish, buttplate with light wear to checkering and lettering. Action is tight; bore is shiny with sharp rifling. Est.: $250-$450.
