Lot 94 1st Yr. Marlin ''New'' Model 1895 Lever Action Rifle
1st Year Marlin ''New'' Model 1895 Lever Action Rifle, #B004296, .45-70 cal., 22'' round barrel, blue finish, plain straight grip walnut stock and forend, checkered black composite ''Marlin Safety'' buttplate, dovetailed front sight with silver bead, semi-buckhorn rear sight with elevator, with hammer extension. Mfg'd in 1972, this rifle has early features such as 8-groove rifling (Pre-Micro Groove) and does not feature the push-button safety. Metal surfaces retain approx. 98% original finish and rate as excellent overall, with a few thin scratches and small handling marks. Wood is near excellent for a 47-year-old rifle and shows a handful of normal small and shallow dings and scratches from handling and use, most noticeable on the bottom edge near the Marlin ''bullseye'' and a moderate dent on the bottom of the forend. ''JM'' on the barrel was not struck well and is partially visible, remaining factory lettering is clear and defined. Smooth crisp action; bright bore with excellent rifling. Est.: $650-$850. (Modern)
