An Ottoman Yataghan sword from the Balkans. Mid-19th century (Dated). Large eared walrus ivory grips. Copper gold gilt tang band set with large corals. Steel blade with a silver koftgari star on one side and silver koftgari Arabic script including a date of 1255 (1839) on the reverse. Wooden scabbard covered with engraved brass. Good condition with minor wear, a few age cracks in the ivory handle and cracks on one coral panel.Measures 28 ½” overall. Est.: $1500-$2500
