Modern Reproduction of the Remington Model 1863 ''Zouave'' 2-Band Percussion Infantry Rifle, by Navy Arms, #9042, .58 cal., 33'' round barrel with integral right-side bayonet lug at muzzle marked ''Navy Arms Co. /.58 Caliber'' at breech, ''Antonio Zoli - Gardone, VT,'' and ''F.A.R.A. 9042'' on left side, and ''Made in Italy'' on right; case hardened steel hammer and lockplate with spread-wing eagle over ''Navy Arms Co.'', brass furniture including triggerguard with iron sling ring, patchbox with hinged door opening to trap containing a spare percussion nipple and worm, buttplate, two barrel bands (forward band with iron sling ring), nosecap. Steel tulip-head ramrod. Condition is fine, with barrel retaining 95% deep original blue, hammer and lockplate with colorful case hardening, and a light aged patina to brass. Stock shows some handling marks and a small ding or two, but is sound, undamaged and shows good color. Action is tight and sure; bore appears shiny with deep rifling. Est.: $200-$400. (Antique)
