Parker Bros. Damascus Twist SXS Double Barrel Black Powder Breech-Loading Cartridge Shotgun, with Lifter Action, #67562, 12 ga., 32'' round barrels marked on matted top rib, ''Parker Bros. Makers. Meriden Conn. Stub Twist.'' flanked by fancy arrows; bead front sight. Case hardened steel bar- or front-action lockplates are marked ''Parker Bros.'' within fine engraved borders. Steel beavertail forend release and breech release latch plates are marked ''Patd. Mar. 26, 1878''; steel triggerguard and tang with engraved borders; checkered hard rubber buttplate with deep relief portrait of a dog within the circular ''Parker/Bros.'' logo. All visible serial numbers match. Varnished straight walnut stocks are checkered at forend and at wrist of buttstock; a silver shield escutcheon is inlaid atop wrist. Condition is very good, with all metal surfaces showing an even gunmetal gray color and clear twist grain to barrels; left barrel shows a mild bottom dent about halfway down its length; locks show muted case hardening colors. Stocks show considerable wear to checkering, dings and scrapes, but are sound; buttplate with worn checkering and a crack above top screw. Action is strong and positive; lifter action functions perfectly; bores are shiny from about 1/3 down and pitted toward breeches. Est.: $500-$750. (Antique)
