Lot 796 Likely European Sharps-Type 4-Barrel Pepperbox
Large-Bore, Large-Frame, Likely European Sharps-Type 4-Barrel Spurtrigger Pepperbox Pistol, appears to be serial #0 under tip-up barrel group and on left grip frame (perhaps an inventor's model or prototype as it is completely unmarked as to maker and without proofmarks), .41/10mm RF cal. with single revolving striker, 4-1/8'' ribbed barrel group. Originally finished in full nickel plate with checkered walnut bag-style two-piece grips having diamond screw escutcheons, and steel lanyard ring in butt. Frame and recoil shield decorated with fine two-row engraved bordering. Condition is fine retaining approx. 85%-90% original nickel showing age spotting and minor losses. Grips are very good with minor flattening to checks and no cracks or chips. Barrel hinge is solid. Action is smooth and sure; bores appear good with distinct rifling and should clean. Est.: $450-$650. (Antique)
