Classic Best Quality Carl Stiegele Schuetzen Rifle, #8812, 8.15x46R cal., 29'' fluted gold-banded barrel has raised ribs and is marked ''Prima Kruppscher/Guss-Stahl'' (Krupp Premium Cast Steel). Top barrel flat at breech end reads ''C./Stiegele/ Jun./Munchen'' in gold with floral scroll designs and platinum inlays. The Martini type falling block action is profusely floral engraved and gold bordered with a scene of a proud lion on one side, and ''Zur Erinnerung an Lowenbrau, Munchen 1874-1895'' on the obverse. The triggerguard is profusely gold inlaid with what appears to be a monogram, with double set trigger. The false pistol-grip buttstock with thumbrest is elaborately relief carved with a game scene below Tyrolean cheekpiece and panel scene of elk on the right side; forearm is also carved in elaborate scrolls. The pewter hooked buttplate is again heavily engraved with the number ''8812'' in a gold band. Also features a large disc peep sight adjustable for windage and elevation, and a hooded front sight drift adjustable for windage. All aspects of this rifle are fully and finely engraved, including escutcheons, screw heads and sight base. Housed in a French-fitted green velvet-lined case, marked ''Carl Stiegele Jun./Waffenschmidt/Munchen'', with cleaning rod, cartridge block, and key. This rare presentation rifle is in excellent condition overall showing only minor marks from handling. A truly exceptional piece. Est.: $12,000-$18,000. (C&R)
