Bolt action rifle. 20% blued finish, with one piece wood stock. This is Spanish-American war era, U.S. military rifle that has been sporterized. Barrel has been cut down to 23 1/2". Brass front sight blade added. Rear sight removed, and a peep sight added to the side of receiver. Scope rail mounts attached to barrel. Bore appears good, but dirty. Action is smooth, and locks up tight. Most of the original finish is gone, turned to brown patina, with surface rust throughout. Some original blue remaining in recessed areas, and on top of the extractor. Stock is decent with black-capped forearm, and pistol grip. Rubber buttplate has dried/cracked. No major problems, and should clean-up well. NRA condition-Fair Modern Firearm.
