WWI GEW 98 German Double Claw Sniper Rifle, #8791e, 7.9x57mm cal., 29.5'' blue barrel, bright bolt and receiver, the ring of which is dated 1915; European walnut stock and upper handguard, with correct late WWI/early WWII brown leather sling and cleaning rod. Rifle with unmodified Grand Vizier rear sight. Topped with a Voigtlander (Braunschwieg) 3-power scope with German three-post reticle. (This scope originally numbered to another rifle and re-issued and hand-serialized during its period of use. Markings are well accomplished and hand engraved.) All visible matching serial numbers; stock is unnumbered. Condition is excellent retaining approx. 93% blue. Bolt, receiver, and magazine follower are bright with very little carbon spotting.
