Lot 63 Colt Model 1851 Navy Civil War Percussion Revolver
Colt Model 1851 Navy Civil War Percussion Revolver, 4th Model, #101672 (an interesting Colt factory error, as all serial numbers were originally mis-stamped ''101472'', then correctly over-stamped ''101672''), .36 cal., 6-shots, 7.5'' octagonal barrel with one-line New York address, blue and case hardened finish, one-piece walnut grips, brass backstrap and triggerguard. All visible matching serial numbers (but with wedge and lever retaining the original ''1472'' numbers). Mfg'd 1861. Condition is very good+, with sharp edges and most screw slots clean and straight, retaining light case colors on frame and lever and otherwise exhibiting smooth gray metal. Cylinder scene typically a bit light but all there. Grips are very good to fine retaining approx. 75%-80% original varnish. Grip straps retain approx. 50%-60% original silver; ''S.B. Waters'' engraved on butt. Smooth, very tight action; could not remove barrel to check bore. Overall a very nice, tight and sharp '51 Navy Colt. Est.: $2,000-$2,500. (Antique)(Joe Poyer collection)
