1866 Winchester 4th Model rifle in .44 rim fire, S/N 149847. Brass crescent butt with iron ’73 style fore end cap (Transition). The barrel and tube show 50%-70% blue toning to brown with some good bright areas mixed in Lot Title the patina. Good barrel address that is fully legible with fairly sharp edges. The frame is good with tight sideplates and light polishing long ago and aging back. The loading gate shows about 30%-50% blue. The Lot Title wood stocks are very good plus with old clear varnish over coated but no sanding with impeccable fit. Some minor dings, mars and scratches. Traces of case hardening on the hammer and lever. Good tight action and good Lot Title bore. A solid ‘66 rifle with considerable original blue. (Antique) Est.: $7,000-$14,000
