Very high quality clipped point bowie knife marked “Crookes and Clarke” circa 1860-1890. 7 7/8” well-made blade showing excellent grind and polish with faint original etching reading “La Muerta Antes, Que La Deshonra”which loosely translates to “Death Before Dishonor” and obviously made for Mexico or South American market. Well-made steel mounts with very nicely aged original grip. The original scabbard is retained and showssimulated turtle shell. The condition is very good plus to almost fine and 12 ¼” overall.
