German Mauser Model K98 bolt action rifle, 8 x 57 caliber, serial #1781M. The rifle is in very good overall condition with a 24” barrel featuring a ramp front and military style tangent rear sights. The barrel andreceiver retain the majority of their original military finish moderate wear and light surface rust. The front ring is marked S/42 including the German eagle and is dated 1937. Additionally, the barrel featuresseveral German proofs. The smooth wood stock is in good condition with mars and compressions consistent with service use and a serial number. The butt ends with a smooth steel butt plate. The bore is rough withpitting, the action crisp and markings are sharp on this pre-World War II Mauser. (C+R) Est.: $300-$600.
