Lot 733 Clay Sculpture by Mogens Kiehn

"The Duke" depicts a Lakota Sioux caught up in thought with a face softened by kindness. Long flowing hair, a textured shirt and necklaces add authentic detail. About 17" tall and 17 1/2" wide and 10" deep. Sits on a plain wood base, measurements do not include base. In excellent condition and hallmarked. An original one of a kind that captures the proud spirit of the indigenous people of the Great Plains. Mogens Kiehn was also a resistance fighter in WWII, a chemist, inventor, and is settled in Scottsdale, AZ. Mogens is now in his 90s, loved all things Western and revealed this admiration in his extremely rare busts of Native Americans.
