Model 1817 Deringer Single Shot Common Rifle, .54 cal., 36'' barrel, brown finish, smooth wooden stock with oval iron patchbox. ''U.S.'' on buttplate tang, lockplate marked 1842 behind hammer, ''U.S./Deringer/Phila'' in front of hammer. Barrel is marked with ''U.S./JCB/P'' near breech and 1812 on tang. Condition is fair as converted from flint to percussion, with all iron components a uniform deep brown patina. Lock functions as designed. Stock is fair with substantial loss behind hammer, with no visible stock markings. Est.: $750-$1,000. (Antique)
