Manufactured in 1904, the rifle appears to be an original 30-03, possibly rod bayonet equipped, that was overhauled to the 1906 standard. The stock has a faint "1908" dated inspection cartouche on the left side. Includes a "1906" dated R.I.A. bayonet with a "1906" dated R.I.A. leather sheath, and a "1903" dated R.I.A. leather sling. The oiler/cleaning kit are in the butt trap. With a copy of "Springfield Model 1903 Service Rifle Production and Alteration 1905-1910" by C.S. Ferris and John Beard, with hand-written note attributed to Beard discussing the features and rarity of the rifle.
