Lot 239 Japanese Matchlock from Samurai class or Royal guards showing fully silver and gold inlaid barrel,
Japanese Matchlock from Samurai class or Royal guards showing fully silver and gold inlaid barrel, black lacquer stock with royal mons or crests and heavy barrel weighing approximately 19lbs. with a 40” barrel of nearly .75 caliber and almost 2” across flats of the muzzle. The condition is near fine with some normal aging and just minor imperfections. The barrel shows a signature at the breech and crest above it. The stock shows many family crests. Would beinteresting to research crests as we believe they would relate to a high Samurai or possibly the Royal family during 18th to 19th century. Est.: $10,000-$20,000
