U.S. Model 1861 Artillery Percussion Musket, by Springfield, .58 cal., 33'' barrel, bright finish, walnut stock, with three-leaf rear sight, 1863 dated lockplate and barrel, two bands, and ramrod. Known by collectors as the Artillery and/or Cadet model. There is one mention in Springfield records of ''Short Muskets, .58 cal.'', giving quantities of approx. 775. Condition is very good showing light carbon spotting to bright surfaces. Stock with minor impressions. Action and bore are good. Est.: $1,200-$1,800. (Antique)
