New York Single Shot Target Rifle, by ''H.V. Perry, Jamestown, NY'', .40 cal., 25-1/2'' medium-weight octagonal barrel with original false muzzle and bullet starter, brown and blue finish, nickel silver crescent buttplate, triggerguard and wedge escutcheon; checkered perchbelly walnut stock, early style scope with fine crosshair reticle. Condition is fine as partially modified. Scope tube and barrel retain approx. 90% of a later accomplished browning. Stock with an additional coat of varnish and small repairs, and one very small fissure emanating from lockplate screw. Checkering has either been added or re-traced at one point. Forward barrel wedge is missing. Rear trigger must be set before hammer can be retracted. Upper portion of hammer shows repairs. Action is good, bore is bright. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (Antique)
