^Lot 712 Malaysian Bronze Lantaka

Malaysian Bronze Lantaka, as used on merchant vessels traveling the South China Seas, ca. 1760-1820, measuring approx. 45'' overall, 3'' dia. at base, and approx. 2'' at muzzle; more dia. measures @ 1.25'', with flared end very nearly 5'' in dia. Nicely marked with marker's cartouches and clear touch hole. Condition is fine with even overall patination, and one small area of repair approx. 12'' from muzzle on right side. Early example were mfg'd in foundries in Malacca and Pahang; later models from foundries in the Netherland and Portugal. On modern hobbyist made stand. Est.: $1,800-$2,400.
