Lot 1182a Whitneyville 1861 Cal: ? SN: NVSN

1863 US military rifle converted to a smoothbore shotgun for a California pioneer. Blued percussion action with a 32" barrel. Metal is dull with surface rust and pitting. Wood is dark with a big chip missing and repaired with a brass belt beside the upper tang. The forend was shortened and a steel nose cap made. Wood has repaired cracks as well as dings and scratches. There is a brass oval on the butt stock where a sling swivel used to be. Bore is heavily pitted. Action is good. Condition is poor. *Antique Firearm*
