2024 SCI Golden Gate Chapter Online Auction

Guenoc 2007 Six Liter (Methusaleh) of Victorian Claret
This amazing bottle of 2007 Victorian Claret has been stored in a cool, dark cabinet for over fifteen years. It is a rich red blend of prime wine varietals. The Guenoc valley of Northern California is a recognized American Viticultural Area (AVA), with wine production reaching back to 1888 when famed star Lilly Langtree established the first major vineyard. It is her image that graces this imposing bottle. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, merlot and other grapes, it is an example of a "California Bordeaux blend", with notes of oak, red fruit and plum. Due to its size and slow maturing, this fabulous bottle is ready for current enjoyment. Donor's value: Priceless!!! We thank our Chapter Member for this wonderful 100% donation.

Mature Cape Buffalo "Dagga Boy" to 40" donated by African Field Sports
Call it Mbogo. Call it Inyathi. By any name, the Cape Buffalo demands respect, and is the quintessence of "dangerous game". Rippling slabs of muscle under a coal-black hide, huge hooves, a coal-black head with wickedly curved horns spanning over a yard, and, above all else, a disdainful stare, as if you owed it money. When it wants to, it can move with astonishing speed and malevolent intent. For those of stout heart and seeking a real challenge, African Field Sports has donated a "Dagga Boy" all-inclusive Cape Buffalo package on their 150 square mile ranch, containing a 58 square mile area where an estimated 450 buffalo roam as undisputed masters. We believe that this qualifies as a free-range hunt, and is for 5 hunting days/6 nights on a one-on-one basis. This hunt package includes one mature bull Cape Buffalo to 40". Any trophy bull over 40" will incur an additional charge according to published rates. Transportation during the hunt is mostly by vehicle and spot-and-stalk. Youth Benefit 2024 Four-day Cow Elk Hunt at Six Points Ranch
Safari Club International, Golden Gate Chapter, is a dedicated supporter of youth involvement in the shooting sports, and developing skills that are readily transferable to the field. We are fortunate in having a highly successful and dedicated Shotgun Sports effort (trap, skeet, sporting clays) at a local Charter High School, which has been solely supported by the parents and donations - receiving no support from the school or school district. A recently imposed California State excise tax on ammunition and firearms related products will make it more financially challenging for this effort to flourish. BY THE GENEROSITY OF OUR DONOR, ALL PROCEEDS FROM THIS AUCTION ITEM WILL GO TO SUPPORT THE CONTINUATION OF THIS YOUTH SHOTGUN SPORTS EFFORT.... This four-day, 2024, cow elk hunt will take place on the Six Point Ranch, which has been operated as a highly-regarded hunting destination for tule elk, black tail deer and wild pigs. Beyond the headquarters the ranch rises thousands of feet in elevation, blending a rich mosaic of meadows, rolling foothills, and mountain forests of oaks and conifers. A thorough road system allows you to meander throughout the entire ranch, from the lowest to the highest elevations. Wild hogs, elk, deer, black bear, turkey and upland birds can also be seen throughout the ranch. Multiple stocked ponds cater to the wildlife and ranch ecosystem. The 6-point ranch is a rare example of the ideal California legacy ranch. It’s what many would create if they were able to craft their ultimate ranch from scratch. With diverse and scenic landscape throughout, plenty of quality water for fishing and excellent habitat for wildlife and livestock. The ranch is well-balanced and offers a wide variety of outdoor pursuits for multiple generations. It’s hard to imagine that places like this still exist in California, a destination for those who want to create long lasting memories…this is the Six Point Ranch. This donation is for a 2024 four-day hunt on mutually agreeable 2024 dates for one cow elk (cows only!). This donation is for one hunter, and includes fees for one cow elk, one-o-one guide, lodging and meals. Method of take is by rifle. Lead-free ammo only. Bring hunting license and PLM tag. Hunt may be upgraded by mutual agreement to include wild pigs, at trophy fees ranging from $1600 to $1800. Location: Six Point Ranch, 1200 Burris Lane, Potter Valley, California. Unguided Opening Weekend Hunt for Blacktail Bucks 2024
The University of California Hopland Research and Extension Center is a 5,358 acre property located in the Mayacamas mountains of Mendocino County, roughly two hour's drive North of San Francisco. Owned and operated by U.C. since 1951, the mission of the Center is to carry out a broad spectrum of ecosystem research. As a part of this mission, HREC has been recognized for decades as a center for wildlife research on Columbian Black-tailed deer, and as an integrated part of these studies HREC offers an annual deer hunt that ties into and helps support these activities. The property is a beautiful mixture of rolling open oak woodlands, chaparral, and annual & perennial grasslands. The property ranges from 600 to 3000 feet in elevation, and is accessed via an extensive network of both maintained all-weather dirt roads and unmaintained four-wheel drive tracks. Spread around the property are various springs and ponds. The surrounding lands constitute a refugium/reservoir of deer to the estimated 500-600 resident blacktails, as HREC is bounded by private ranches, vineyards, and over 45,000 acres of rugged BLM land. For most of the year, the vast majority of HREC (outside the Headquarters area), is lightly travelled with visitation limited to active researchers, occasional guided hikes and employees maintaining the property and managing a small flock of sheep that graze some of the lower pastures. Then, for a few weekends each year, the public has the chance to participate in very limited access hunts via a lottery, Our special "Restricted Hunts" are reserved for the last weekend (August 10-12), where only six hunters each weekend get access to the entire property (outside of a no-hunting area around the Headquarters complex) for one day of scouting and three days of hunting. Opening Restricted Hunt Weekend 8/9: Scouting only 8/10-8/12: Hunting Included: Although this is an UNGUIDED hunt, HREC will assist by including: - One day of pre-hunt scouting including a one-hour orientation with HREC Staff about the property and past hunting information (before opening weekend). - Three days self-guided hunting (opening weekend). - Maps showing water sources, contours and satellite imagery of vegetation. - Access to a skinning-shed, including power hoist, basic cleaning equipment and cooling room - Participation in active deer research activities - One deer tag can be filled as part of this package, a second tag may be filled by the same hunter for an additional $500. Not Included: California hunting license and deer tag(s). A-Zone deer tags are available over the counter. No rifle rental is available. No food is available on the site. (Note that accommodations, meals and any transport are not included. Hopland is very close, with two hotels, and Ukiah is 25 minutes away with multiple hotels and facilities) By bidding on one of these very limited Restricted Hunt slots you will not only be able to take advantage of a great and rare opportunity to hunt on HREC, but you will also be helping to fund vital continuing research into California's wildlife and relevant land management practices to ensure our natural resources for future generations.
Massive Methuselah of Prime Guenoc 1998 North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon
The Guenoc Valley lies sixty miles north of San Francisco — a panorama of oak-strewn grasslands, rolling green hills, craggy outcroppings and perfect volcanic cinder cones, with the shimmer of a dozen azure lakes. The 21,349-acre Langtry Estate is one of the largest contiguous private land holdings in California, and among the most beautiful. Since purchase this massive Methuselah of 1998 North Coast Cab has been stored very carefully, for much of the time in an underground wine vault. It has been unopened in the pictured foam packing container and box, so no ultraviolet or other light has disturbed the slow maturing and interplay of flavors in this celebratory masterpiece. It was quickly re-boxed and returned to proper storage. Wine.com had this to say about the 1998 Cabernet: "Rich, complex aromas of cherries, black currants, and chocolate with spicy vanilla undertones carry over into the flavor, with a good balance of fruit and oak".We, of course, have no way of tasting this Methusaleh, but based upon careful storage away from harmful light, the eight bottle volume, and the nature of Cabernet, we would anticipate a spectacular wine when opened. Due to weight and shipping costs, shipping to destinations outside the Greater San Francisco Bay Area are at High Bidder's expense. Value: Priceless We thank our Chapter Member for this wonderful 100% donation.
