2020 or 2021 KYRGYZSTAN MARCO POLO HUNT
Bryan Martin (250) 317-5525 bryankmartin@gmail.com Booth #1025 Asian Mountain Outfitters offers a unique and adventurous mountain hunting experience in Kyrgyzstan, for one of most incredible mountain sheep in the world, the majestic Marco Polo. This is actually the Hume Argali, a subspecies of the Marco Polo sheep and the hunting season is September, Oct and November. Hunts are approximately 6-8 days of hunting, plus travel. This hunt is conducted on horseback/foot in high elevations (11,000-13,500’). The drive to hunting camp is 8 to 13 hours, depending on weather and camp location. This is not a North American Hunt; hunters need to be prepared for cultural/language differences, long range and sometimes quick shooting (proficient at 500+ yards). The climates are similar to the high & dry areas of CO, NM and NV. All Kyrgyzstan hunting licenses and fees, based on current government prices are included in the hunt; any unforeseen fee increases are to be paid by the client; The hunter is responsible for the flight to and from Bishkek via Turkish Air/Istanbul, Airport VIP service, meals and lodging while in Bishkek (usually 2-3 nights), extra baggage fees for taking home skin/skull or shipping of trophies home and staff tips (clients will be provided with Tip suggestions). The winning bidder will have their name submitted to the USFWS, so that they will get a USFWS CITES import permits. The U.S. CITES application with USFWS opens May 1st of each year and costs $100.00. Most of the hunting areas have a heated house or cabin and if spiking out, the hunter will use backpack style tents. A non-hunting companion is $2,500. If space is available for an additional hunter, the price is $30,000 for one Marco Polo. A Mid-Asian Ibex can be added to this hunt for an additional $5,000.00. Typical sizes for Marco Polo Rams are 47”-52” and Ibex range average 38”-46”, but larger animals of both species have been taken. Hunters can sometimes take the trophy(s) home in checked luggage if skins are dried enough, but most of our hunters have them shipped via DHL, Fed Ex or Turkish Air Freight and cleared, using a Wildlife import broker. The hunt is to be taken during the current year’s hunting season, but arrangements can be made to postpone hunt until future years (with approval from Asian Mountain Outfitters; and if Govt. fees increase, hunters pay this increase). Asian Mountain Outfitters works with partners in several different hunting areas: both the Naryn and Issyk-kul Regions and can also arrange Karalini (Tien Shan) for non-USA Hunters. Our Managers/partners will meet clients at airport and assist in all aspects of the hunts. The best local guides typically do not speak English, but are skilled hunters and horsemen. If it is your first trip to Central Asia, we can arrange a Western/English speaking guide to accompany you (price is a minimum of $5,000 USD plus all their travel and trip expenses). Hunters who elect to hunt with just the local guides need to be able to assist in trophy judging & oversee the skin preparations. The best attitude is to go prepared as if it is a Self-guided hunt, combined with local guides. This hunt can be upgraded to a Tajikistan Marco Polo, with the hunters playing the difference in price between the two. Bryan Martin, founder of Asian Mountain Outfitters, has conducted seminars at various conventions about equipment, shooting and what should be expected on such hunts. He has outfitted in Canada since 1999 and in Central Asia since 2002 and has personally been on many successful Marco Polo/Ibex hunts, spending over 3 months each year in Central Asia, to insure AMO is very knowledgeable regarding all aspects of the hunts. Make sure to check out the Asian Mountain Outfitters website for additional information and videos on this hunt and many others they offer in Tajikistan, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Nepal, Pakistan, Turkey, Russia, Spain, Canada and Romania. TURN OF THE CENTURY Headstall and Romel Reins
Pat White 801-473-5760 These reins were made over 100 years ago and were made out of horsehide. The reason that they used horsehide back then is because horsehide is thinner and easier to use than cowhide. Cowhide has to be split. The rosettes on the sides of the headstall are old silver coins dated 1908 and 1916. If you are a collector of old western memorabilia, this would be a great addition to your collection.
