Charles Hutson, known as Buck to family and friends, was born in the heart of the Atlantic Flyway on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and resides in Bozman, MD. This Roosevelt elk hunt is a 1x1 guided 5 day hunt for the 2017 season. It takes place in the Pacific Northwest Rainforest located in the South West comer of Washington State in the Willapa Hills area. The hunt is conducted on both state forest and private timber company lands which are accessed by foot only. This area has the state's highest densities of true Roosevelt elk. Hunters will stay in a comfortable wall tent camp where there will be cots, carpeted floors, wood stoves and plenty of hot meals. Hunters will drive from camp using 4 wheel drive vehicles, and then access hunting areas on foot. Methods will include spot and stalk, ground blinds and still-hunting through timbered forests, canyons and swamps. The terrain is very diverse, ranging from open logging areas, new growth forests, swamps, high ridges and deep canyons filled with streams and 200 year old trees. With over 30 years' experience hunting these animals, this outfitter boasts an exceptional 75-80% shot opportunity on a 5 day hunt with 60% overall success. On 7 day hunts and longer shot opportunity has been 90-100% with nearly 100% success. Average shot distance is less than 100 yards with many animals being harvested at 75 yards and less.
