"New Blood" - Bronze Sculpture by John Tolmay
TOLMAY - BRONZE AFRICA: The inspiration for this piece occurred on safari in 1989 while driving out of the Makame Depression in Masai land, Tanzania on the artist's way to Ngasamut, a place where the Masai gather every week or so to trade produce and livestock. The track out of the depression was steep, very rutted and long with dense jess bush the whole way. It was on this track that he came upon a lone Masai driving a bull. When asked where he was going, he indicated that he had traded some cows for his bull and was taking it back to his boma near a place called Oldonyo Ndrobo (a very long distance away). This was a wild place and one wondered where he would stop and rest when the night came. The place crawled with lions and hyena and he was simply walking into the night and it never phased him one bit. Limited edition #1 of 20. Measures 14”Hx23”Lx10”W and weighs 21lbs. Beretta 486 Parallelo Round-Action 28 Gauge Side-by-Side Shotgun
BERETTA USA has reintroduced the side by side to their lineup of shotguns with the 486 Parallelo. This is a shotgun designed to be as classic as possible on the outside, while incorporating materials and engineering features that make it every bit a thoroughly modern firearm. Far more than just a face-lift, Beretta has redesigned the action, springs and trigger-group. A true statement of classic taste, the 486 Parallelo is the perfect shotgun for the gentleman or lady hunter. Its round action contains very few straight lines, and looks like it has organically grown together with the stock into something harmonious and beautiful. To the outside, the lines of the action are also complemented by English-style scroll engraving, which also extends to the top lever and trigger-guard. New leaf springs in the action allow for faster and more precise firing pin engagement, for a super-crisp shot let-off. Also, the brand new trigger guard keeps all the moving parts captive, which makes maintenance absolutely easy. Point of balance is right at the hinge-pin, while the portion of the gun forward of the supporting hand will still feel lively--the Beretta way. The wide plane of the side-by-side barrels will naturally guide the eye to the target, also aided by the fact that the action is trim and low-profile. Add to this a gravitational safety that engages if the gun is dropped and the choice between auto and manual extraction, and you truly have today's most useful side-by-side--whether you use it on the field or at the clay range. Includes special engraving with DSC logo; 28 gauge with 28" barrel and OCHP chokes; Upgraded straight stock and splinter fore end; Single selective trigger with automatic safety; and Custom canvas and leather gun case with DSC logo. "Against All Odds" Bronze Sculpture by Rick Taylor
RICK TAYLOR - SCULPTOR: Bronze sculpture, titled "Against All Odds" by long-time donor Rick Taylor, depicts the new world record Boone and Crockett Rocky Mountain Bighorn ram. This remarkable ram, ear tagged #706 as a lamb in 1998, had miraculously survived a bullet wound in the base of his right horn in 2008, but somehow continued to grow and became very reclusive. He met an unfortunate end on January 19, 2010 when he was struck and killed by a vehicle near the ranch where he had spent his last 2 years. The rancher found him and was eventually given a permit to possess the horns. In 2014, the ram was officially scored as the largest ever on record. This bronze is number 1 of an open edition and will undoubtedly be cherished forever by the lucky bidder who wins this auction favorite!!! PROCEEDS BENEFIT THE CONKLIN FOUNDATION. 8-Day Luxury Red Carpet Railway Wingshooting Adventure for Two in South Africa
GLOBAL SPORTING SAFARIS, INC. / ROVOS RAIL: Rovos Rail’s 'Pride of Africa' is a restored 1920s vintage Edwardian train complete with original dining and observation cars. From the observation car complete with a viewing deck, to the dining car with linen-covered tables set with fine china and crystal, to each well-appointed stateroom with its private bath, the Rovos Rail is a study in elegance. Add an attentive staff and all the elements are in place for travel on what many consider the most luxurious train in the world. This journey offers wingshooting: driven guinea fowl and francolin, decoyed pigeons, and high-volume dove and waterfowl action. When the time comes to board, a red carpet shows the way and champagne cocktails are served while the luggage is whisked away to your stateroom. Your journey takes you from Pretoria to the bushveldt and farmlands of the North West province, the diamond fields of the Northern Cape, and the rich game lands of the Free State before finally returning you to the Pretoria Station. The first two days are devoted to guinea fowl shooting. Guineas are strong-flying game birds that are at their best when driven by 60–100 beaters towards a waiting line of guns. In addition to the driven days, there are two days of dove and pigeon action. The shooting is near Bloemfontein, an agricultural region where sunflower, soybeans, corn and wheat are the primary crops. One day is devoted to waterfowl shooting in the Northern Cape near Kimberly. The goose hunting is over decoys while flighted ducks round out the day’s action. The plains game option offers visits to three or four properties during the course of the eight-day trip. Clients are met at the train by a professional hunter and transported to the hunting area. Each day, the non-shooters have their own guided program that includes visits to Boer War battlefields, art museums, spa visits, shopping and game drives. The non-shooters join the guns in the field for a half day of shooting and the midday meal while everyone on board spends a day touring the Diamond Mine Museum and Big Hole in Kimberley. The trip is designed with both shooters and non-shooters in mind, with outstanding programs for both. Rovos Rail truly provides the finest wingshooting safaris available. With fast-paced hunts, unforgettable destinations, and incredible accommodations aboard the most luxurious train in the world, they are something you must experience firsthand. Additional hunters and non-hunters are welcome at the rate of $24,450 for hunters and $11,380 for non-hunters. Arrival/departure point is Pretoria, South Africa. Framed Original Oil on Canvas by Brent Dodd
BRENT DODD GALLERIES: Framed original oil on canvas by Brent Dodd, measures 74"x28". Brent Dodd's beautifully caught moments in time from the world's rich environments offer a vision of true connection to the land. Dodd paints in rich colors and a highly naturalistic, detailed style that evokes the exuberance of both the Impressionists and color photography pioneers such as Stephen Shore. His subject matter, however, is a unique reflection of his one experience and affection for the world he knows, as he portrays humans, landscapes and wildlife with equal precision and empathy. Dodd's gift is characterizing his subject. A winding road under a dark sky speaks with the same emotional role as the image of a worker painstakingly sowing seeds. For this artist, our emotions and physical lives are wrapped up in the land. Brent Dodd was born in Zimbabwe and grew up there before venturing into the international art world. Having had exhibitions in New York, Las Vegas, Dallas, London and Auckland - he enjoys a strict schedule of exhibiting through intercontinental travel, building a footprint to satisfy his love for art enlightenment through education and exploration. "Rain Cloud" - Alligator Juniper Table by Andy Sanchez
ANDY SANCHEZ FURNITURE: This beautiful table was handmade by Andy Sanchez and his sons who have been building elegant-rustic tables for over 25 years. Sanchez has won several awards around the country and has also shipped several tables overseas to adorn the Mavros' Silver Gallery in London. King Juan Carlos of Spain and the Queen of England have both sat at one of his tables and had tea! Andy uses jewelry, quality stones, fossils and marble to inlay into his furniture. This table entitled "Rain Cloud" has turquoise, marble, slate and dark green soapstone. The slate and soapstone form the rain-clouds and the travertine marble depicts the storm. A white marble arrowhead shape, together with the turquoise, gives this table a Southwest native flavor.
