Elephant Head Pendant by Darren K Moore Custom Jewelers
Description: This handcrafted Elephant Head pendant is fashioned in 14k yellow gold with diamond eyes and suspended from an 18 inch yellow gold chain. About the Artist: Darren K. Moore is a world class craftsman whose medium is precious metals and gems. His unique mix of design, creativity and vast experience in jewelry have shaped him into a prolific artist. Born in the Appalachian foothills of Eastern Kentucky, Darren displayed a noticeable talent for art at an early age, which his parents readily cultivated. At age ten, Darren began art instruction, and it soon became obvious that he possessed a natural eye for meticulous detail. When he was 13, the Moore’s left their lush green hills for the arid desert landscape of Scottsdale, Arizona. As Darren explored the then lonely stretches of the McDowell Mountains, he grew to love the desert and it’s variety of flora and fauna. It was during this time that the theme of wildlife art began to surface in his work. With encouragement from friends, family, and teachers, Darren continued his quest for realism and authenticity in his art. His early work in oils and watercolors evolved into the mediums of gold and precious stones, due to the influence of his family’s 30 years in the jewelry industry. I chose to use the zebra as the backdrop for the lioness. In this way the picture was infused with the image of Africa." Lee Kromschroeder - artist This is an apt statement for such a powerful image of an area that, at one point in time, had one of the densest known population of lions.
