"Shadow Seeker" by Peter Blackwell, original oil on canvas
Kenyan born, Peter Blackwell has been intrigued by Africa's environments and its exceptional diversity all his life. Raised on a remote farm in Northern Kenya, the African bush was Peter's outdoor arena for entertainment and learning. Peter spends many weeks of the year in the bush, where he not only obtains the reference material necessary to create his works, but also to study his subjects. His painting style, though realistic, also suggests an unconventional flavor as he constantly strives to create original works that are anatomically accurate, yet at the same time are fresh and innovative. Each of Peter's works is an attempt to capture even brief moments of Africa's beauty, and it is his wish that each piece may offer unique insights into the Africa he knows. This dynamic piece is an original oil on canvas, framed 18" x 24" "Shadow Seeker" copyright 2010. Dallas Safari Club thanks Blackwell Wildlife Art Gallery for this 100% donation. "Gin and Tonic Trees" oil on canvas by Brent Dodd
Landscape Artist, Brent Dodd was born in 1978 in the southern district of Zimbabwe. Early on in his life his family moved onto a farm in the Eastern Highlands. He attended one of Zimbabwe’s premier boarding schools for boys, Peterhouse Boys, before studying Art at Rhodes University in South Africa. He has travelled extensively in Southern and Central Africa, committing his thoughts and findings to canvas. His work describes that childhood of growing up in an African country where one finds adventure and fascination around every corner. From steam locomotives of the Zimbabwean stockyards to the open fields of his family’s tobacco farm; African landscapes from the Zambezi River to the source of the Nile, moments are caught and depicted in various mediums, including both Oil paint and Pencil work. Brent now paints and works in the KwaZulu-Natal Province of South Africa. Biographies accompanying paintings document excerpts from his novel Finding Home, which is still to be published. Dallas Safari Club thanks Brent Dodd for this 100% donation. Donor information: Brent Dodd, brent@brentdodd.com, www.brentdodd.com.
